The starting point is the market value of your property and the simple truth is - nobody knows what that value is - until the property is sold. Even then, six months later the value may be different.
All anyone can do - either you or the assessor - is try to estimate market value. Could your estimate differ from the assessor's? You betcha! Would a lower estimate reduce your tax burden? Right again.
Does this mean you can just make up a low number and cut your taxes? In a word - no. This is where ValueBase comes in.
